Represented by project partner Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, HighMag joined researchers from across Europe at the 8th Swiss Battery Days, held at ETH Zurich from 24 to 26 August 2026.
Jointly organised by Empa, the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), and the Swiss Battery Association (iBAT), the annual event gives early-career researchers working in battery materials and cell manufacturing a direct platform to present their work and build ties with established battery scientists across Europe and beyond. Its focus covers the whole pipeline, from initial material synthesis and characterisation through to electrode integration and practical cell fabrication.
PhD researcher Johannes Thiemann was in Zurich for the Freiburg team, presenting a scientific poster on HighMag’s ongoing post-lithium battery research. The poster session provided a good setting to talk through technical questions, discuss material performance, and gather feedback from colleagues across the Swiss and European battery communities.
